Week #3: Entry Update

The Container Store is quickly becoming my favorite store. It’s filled with all kinds of ways to be super organized in ways you didn’t know was possible. I walked in with a list so that I wouldn’t stray and within minutes that list went out the window. By the time I made it to the register, I put my foot down and put back the gem shaped magnets (Seriously, wtf?).

The goal was to find items to help organize my entry way. Here’s what I bought:

Now, I already own a charging station that I keep in my bedroom. Did I need to buy this one? Probably, not.  Either way, it will end up on my desk or in the kitchen.

I'm a sucker for 4.99 pricepoints.

I also bought a shoe rack system because the photo on the left is what my hallway looks like on normal basis. The hallway is clear now and I’m happy.

Finally, I worked on a few options for the dresser.  There were piles of junk mail on the surface (and on my desk).   I’m going to live with this for a while.  There are a few placeholders for art.  Any suggestions?

Home Cure: Week #3 (Wrap Up)

Anyone else ever get caught up trying to recreate what’s supposed to be a design inspiration photo?  Sure, there are a few that are simple enough to replicate but I can’t help but feel disappointed when it’s just not possible.  This week I learned that a style tray is just that a style tray.  A means to determine your style.

I was so set on trying to create an entry way (this week’s focus) based on a styled photo from West Elm.  Realistically, it would never fit in the space but I held on to the idea for a few days anyway.  It wasn’t until I tried to fill the space with a temporary solution that I came up with something totally new.  The longer I live with the set up (a set up that was created with things that I already owned- Yay Outbox!), the more I like love it.

Now, there’s still more to be done but it looks more like me.  My home will never be a showroom featured on AT and I’m okay with that.  Well, I wouldn’t mind but you know what I mean! 🙂

So let’s get to it.

Home Cure: Week #3 (Mid-Week Check In)

Before I get into week three’s to do list, I want to acknowledge a few things that I accomplished from weeks’ past.  About a year ago, I broke one of my juice glasses and never replaced it.  During my deep cleaning in week one, I put it on my list of repairs  (and quickly forgot about it).  On my commute home yesterday, I ducked into the Crate and Barrel on North and Clybourn to ride out a rain storm.  I started checking out some entry tables (more on that later) and was about to walk out when the missing glass popped into my head.  The set is complete once again!

Another dubious accomplishment: I sat in my dining room for 10 minutes this morning. No snooze button today as I was on a mission.   It was nice to have my tea at the table (while listening to Steve Harvey on the radio- Hilarious!).  I can see myself spending more time in there, especially once it’s completely done. (Is anything ever completely done?!)

Done and Done!

Okay, let’s get to it…
